Background

Attorney Jordan D. Howlette established MyTaxRights, LLC ("MTR") in 2020 to educate the public about their federal tax rights and responsibilities in a clear, concise, and effective manner. At the time, Jordan worked as a trial attorney in the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice, where he was responsible for representing the United States Government in civil tax cases and controversies in federal courts throughout the country. Jordan is experienced with handling both affirmative and defensive tax litigation, and he possesses a deep understanding of federal tax enforcement processes and procedures.

In 2022, Jordan founded JD Howlette Law, a civil litigation firm based in Washington, DC that provides a wide variety of legal services, including affirmative and defensive representation, to individuals and businesses involved in civil disagreements. He devotes a large part of his practice to representing taxpayers in federal, state, and local tax administrative disputes involving the IRS or state department of revenues, and representing taxpayers in both state and federal court litigation. Jordan also provides legal consulting services to businesses on matters that help start, manage, or protect operations, including federal and state tax responsibilities.

Jordan graduated with honors from New England Law | Boston in 2016 and is a veteran of the United States Army. In December 2020, he co-founded the Center for Advancement of Tax Equity (CFATE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes tax education and outreach initiatives to improve the quality of life and economic conditions for individuals from underserved communities.
